The Butcher/Masaoka/Robair trio conjures music out of thin air on Guerrilla Mosaics. The instant improvisations of these three innovators on saxophones (John Butcher), percussion and beyond (Gino Robair), and koto plus electronics (Miya Masaoka) move in mysterious ways, full of quacks, twangs, the rustling of unidentified substances, and seemingly random clatter. The results, mostly laid back but occasionally aggressive and extroverted ("Glyph"), are peculiarly entrancing.
